PILATES + PLAY

Introducing Pilates + Play
by Village West

A new community wellness initiative designed for moms and their littles in Carroll County.

Pilates + Play: Your Monday Morning Reset

Move. Connect. Reset.

Designed for moms with children ages 3 and under, at any stage of motherhood.

Start your week with 50 minutes of mindful mat Pilates, developed with pelvic health specialists to support pregnancy and postpartum recovery. After class, enjoy an hour of Stay + Play, where you can connect with other moms while the kids explore and play safely.

This is your gentle return — to movement, to yourself, and to a community that truly gets it. Whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or chasing little movers, this is your space to breathe, move, and connect.

Classes meet in Westminster, MD on Mondays from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at Exploration Commons, a beautiful space just a short walk from the studio. Come as you are — messy bun, coffee in hand, little one in tow. Move your body, meet new friends, and leave feeling grounded and supported.

Why you’ll love Pilates + Play:

  • Strengthen your core and pelvic floor safely

  • Improve posture and reduce stress

  • Rebuild confidence in your body and movement

  • Connect with other moms while your little ones play

  • A calm, supportive environment — no blasting of baby shark

How it works: To attend, purchase a Monthly Pass. The pass is valid for the calendar month (for example, December) and gives you access to all four scheduled sessions that month. You pay upfront for each month, and your spot is reserved for every class.

Current Village West Pilates members receive 10% off, automatically applied at checkout.

  • For moms with infants, babies, and toddlers age 3 and under.

You’ll start with a guided Pilates flow designed for all stages of motherhood — low-impact, core-focused, and restorative. Modifications are offered throughout so everyone can move safely at their own pace.

You don’t have to choose between your wellbeing and your child’s needs — this is where both can thrive. (And no, we won’t be blasting Baby Shark.) This time is for you.

During class, littles will stay in the same room with a designated play area featuring age appropriate activities, books, and toys. One or two Village Helpers (fellow mom volunteers) guide gentle play so you can focus on your movement while keeping your child nearby.

After class, stay for an hour of play: little ones explore, moms connect over coffee and conversation.

We are beginning with 12 participants until we feel comfortable with accommodating more moms (& more kiddos!)

Our class size limit is based on available floor space and safety — since we don’t know ahead of time how many children or infants will attend, we maintain a flexible but capped capacity to ensure a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Please note: Even if we are at capacity, we can often accommodate additional moms with infants only (approximately 6 months and younger).

  • Our P+P monthly pass is valid exclusively for Pilates + Play by Village West. With the P+P Monthly pass, you get access to all 4 classes held in a calendar month.

    The Details

    • P+P Passes can’t be extended or rolled over to future months. Due to the nature of the program, we’re unable to offer refunds for missed classes or absences (including illness).

    • Because we know motherhood can be beautifully unpredictable, you’ll never be charged additional penalties — no late fees, no no-show fees, and no cancellation fees — beyond your monthly pass rate. Even if you’re running late, you’re always welcome and encouraged to join us anytime.

    • Thank you for showing up when you can and for being part of the supportive, grace-filled spirit that makes Pilates + Play so special.

    • Eligible Village West Pilates members receive 10% off the total price, automatically applied at checkout.

  • Designed by Experts. Rooted in Research.

Our program was developed through an all-star collaboration with local leaders in pelvic health and movement science — Dr. Andrea Eisgruber (PT, DPT, PRPC, CSCS, CET, CLT-UE, CDNT), mom of three and founder of Centered Pelvic Health & Integrative Wellness, and Julie Tarlow (MS, OTR/L, PCES, CCTS-I), mom of three and founder of Core Confidence Pelvic Health & Wellness.

With more than 30 years of combined clinical and movement experience, this team has intentionally designed a postpartum program that bridges physical therapy, occupational therapy, and Pilates. Every element — from breathwork to core integration — is grounded in evidence-based pelvic health and functional movement.

  • What should I bring?
For you: yoga mat, water bottle, comfortable exercise clothing.
For your little(s): snacks, toys, diaper-bag essentials, stroller or carrier.

I just had a baby — when can I participate?
Once cleared by your doctor (typically after six weeks), we welcome you to join us for Pilates. You’re also welcome to attend earlier just to connect and meet other moms!

What if I’ve had a C-section, diastasis, or pelvic floor concerns?
Our instructors are trained to offer safe, gentle movement for every stage of postpartum recovery. Pilates + Play isn’t a medical program, but we collaborate with local pelvic PTs and can connect you for more individualized support.

Can I attend if I’m pregnant?
Yes. Pilates is safe throughout pregnancy when cleared by your provider, and we’ll offer prenatal-friendly options.

Do I need to be “fit” or experienced in Pilates?
Not at all. Classes are beginner-friendly and modifications will be offered — move at the pace that feels right for you. All Levels Welcome
Doctor approval required for prenatal and recently postnatal clients.

What if my baby gets fussy or I need to feed/change?
Do what you need to do — nurse, bottle-feed, change, or snuggle. You’re surrounded by moms who get it.

What if my toddler melts down?
It happens! Please step aside to comfort them. Our volunteers help maintain a calm space but aren’t responsible for consoling children.

    What if we are sick?
Please stay home to rest and protect others!

    Can grandparents or helpers come?
Yes — they’re welcome to attend and lend a hand.

Can my husband or partner come?
This program is just for moms, but we plan to offer family-style classes in the future!

Will you ever offer the program on another day of the week?
You read our minds! We plan to expand beyond Mondays as the program grows — adding more times with the hopes of finding a permanent location that allows greater flexibility in scheduling. Finding a mom-and-baby-friendly space wasn’t easy, but this is just the beginning of something special.

We’ll update this section with more FAQ as the questions roll in!

  • 💬 NO B.S. — JUST COMMUNITY

At Pilates + Play, everyone belongs. Period.

We know motherhood comes with a thousand choices — birth, feeding, schooling, lifestyle — none of that defines your worth here.

Any judgmental, discriminatory, or cliquey behavior will not be tolerated.

This is a no-B.S. zone — where we lift each other up, not compare or compete.

Come as you are. Extend kindness.

Remember — we’re all just doing our best.

  • Because kid-friendly shouldn’t mean chaos.

Village West Pilates was built on the belief that community and wellness belong together.

We’re moms, educators, and movement specialists who believe that strength doesn’t come from doing more — it comes from reconnecting to yourself and your community.

We understand the struggle of finding spaces where moms and little ones are both truly welcome — places that aren’t just “kid-tolerant,” but thoughtfully designed so you can breathe, move, and connect without stress. This program, much like our studio, is designed to be high-integrity, inclusive, and heart-forward — because we all deserve spaces that feel both elevated and real.

Pilates + Play was created to change that.

Our founder’s own journey — giving birth during the pandemic and facing post-birth complications — inspired our commitment to creating an inclusive, realistic space for parents to heal and connect. After struggling to find classes that welcomed both moms and their babies, she made it a mission to ensure this offering exists right here in Carroll County.

Because this shouldn’t be rare- it should be the standard.

  • Moms need a village. But truthfully, we all do.

If your kids are grown but your heart’s still in this season, we invite you to become a Village Helper — a mentor, encourager, and extra set of hands for moms in their early motherhood years (starting with our Pilates + Play program).

Be the support you once needed — the calm presence, the helping hand, the mom you wish you’d had beside you in this season.

We all carry different stories with our own parents — some close, some distant, some complicated. Pilates + Play offers a space to rewrite that narrative through connection, empathy, and shared care.

Because showing up for others reminds us what it means to belong. And often, the act of giving support gives something back to you, too — purpose, connection, and the quiet joy of building the village together.
